Education is central to Foodtree Collective’s mission. We share practical knowledge and ecological understanding that helps people to reconnect with food, land and community.
We offer workshops to communities, businesses, schools and members of the public on a range of areas from agroforestry and native food trees, to learning to start your own food garden, to understanding food sustainability and ecology.
Workshops We Offer
Community Projects
We work with local groups and organisations across Ireland to bring food education to life.
Projects include:
‘Plot to Plate’ Educational Project

This project is currently being held in Greystones, Wicklow. It is a partly funded through the EU LEADER Programme under Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan (CSP). We are collaborating with Cllr. Lourda Scott, Anna Mazzarotto (Greystones Town Team) for this project. This educational programme teaches community-members how to grow, harvest and prepare their own food – from the garden plot to the dinner-plate.
Community Gardens & Woodland Projects

We currently carry out workshops for community garden spaces around Ireland. We have The Woodland League, Miltown Malbay Community Garden, and Clare Local Development. These workshops bring our knowledge and expertise on food sustainability and native woodland to community garden projects, with the goal of teaching more people about native foodtree and plant species and how to incorporate them into community spaces.
Forest in a Box

This is a practical workshop series we have run with The Woodland League, helping communities create small-scale native woodlands and understand forest ecology. This workshop gives an overview of the diverse and symbiotic relationship between different plant-species in the forest ecosystem.
Workshops for All

We offer workshops for schools, communities, businesses, and the public. We tailor to different levels of experience.
Here are some of the topics we cover (topics can be modified and catered to individual needs):
Establishing a Mini Tree Nursery
Learn how to grow native trees from seed, from collection to propagation, and how small-scale nurseries can help restore local ecosystems.
Creating a Traditional Orchard
Learn how to select, plant, and care for heritage fruit trees to create a thriving orchard that supports local biodiversity and preserves traditional varieties.
Introduction to Agroforestry
Explore how trees and crops can grow together in mutually beneficial systems that improve soil health, biodiversity, and long-term resilience.
Syntropic Farming
Discover the principles of syntropic agriculture: a regenerative approach to growing enhances soil fertility and biodiversity, by mimicking structures and patterns found in nature and emphasises cooperation between plants.
Herbal Medicine from Your Garden Forest
An introduction to identifying and using medicinal plants found in forest and woodland settings, as well as those that can be planted in your own home. This workshops connects ecological knowledge with traditional herbal practices.
Bird and Wildlife Surveying
Develop skills from ecologists in observing and recording local wildlife to better understand and support biodiversity in your area.
Designing a Food Forest
Gain hands-on experience in planning and planting a self-sustaining food forest that mimics natural ecosystems while providing food and habitat. This workshop can also incorporate learning about creating forest boxes.
Corporate & Team Days
We design corporate and team days that combine environmental learning and hands-on action.
These workshops help teams reconnect with nature, build collaboration, and contribute to real environmental projects.
Please contact us if you are interested and we will be happy assist you in designing and facilitating the programme best suited to your organisation’s needs.
